Our group isn’t sure how our audience responded to our presentation. We had made an infographic to post on the unit, MMC R6, with an included QR code to respond with any comments or concerns and we got no feedback. Looking at the data it looked like maybe 3 people opened the link but nobody responded. That number could be less if someone in our group scanned the QR code that I didn’t know about. Our infographic focused on effective interventions for fall prevention, the main one being education. I think it would be easy to implement, nurses educate their patients all the time. Unfortunately, I can’t say for certain without the input from the nursing staff.
One thing I took away from this project was the value of patient education for fall prevention. I have seen a focus on lowering the bed, proper footwear, and call bells in the past so I was surprised to find in the literature that those weren’t successful interventions. This is something I can take with me in my future practice. In the future, I would want to work with an employer who help develop the research and implementation skills I’ve learned doing project, like research appraisal and dissemination. I would love the opportunity to see the impact of a dissemination project put in place on the unit.
I enjoyed being able to work with my clinical group this semester on this EBP project. I hadn’t worked with many of them before and it was nice to see new strengths brought to the table. I have a consistent group of people I normally work with; we have a routine. It was nice to change that routine nd learn more about my peers. I found myself taking a step back from a leadership role and really letting others in the group take charge. My normal group always volunteers me for that sort of thing so it was nice to focus on just contributing good work on my part of the project than needing to oversee a lot of it.
